No more moping
Moping's officially banned. :D One year of mopiness over one person is more than enough for me. Look ahead, gal, and study hard!

101st post
Wow. This is the first time I've managed to stick to a blog for 100 entries. :P Although this might have something to do with laziness as opposed to frequent updating.
Spring fling's this weekend, and the semester's coming to an end soon. I feel nostalgic a fair bit this semester. The innocent and carefree secondary school/jc days..
College is great for meeting a variety of interesting people though. :) Since I was rather cliquish back then.. always hanging out with my closest group of friends.
This isn't really a coherent post, but then again, I'm now in corporate finance lecture with my prof rambling on about returns..

My mum was here to visit over spring break and it was nice having her around, showing her my life in philly. I've just read all the novels by Low Kay Hwa, this Singaporean novelist, and it portrays the relationship between a woman and her mother, as well as depict how we often end up taking our mothers for granted. I admit that I do take my mum for granted at times, especially when I'm bothered about something else and ends up being short tempered with her.. I love my mum a lot, but I need to express that more often I suppose.
In any case, Low Kay Hwa’s novels are pretty good, and did touch me, even though certain twists in the plots are predictable and the storylines come as familiar, as though adapted from somewhere else. Even then, they did touch me, perhaps due to the 'Singaporeaness' of the stories. They brought home the heartland mentality.. the familiar terms which I no longer come across.. and in a way, they remind me that I'm a true blue Singaporean at heart.
I miss Singapore.

happy thoughts
Some things I'm happy for:
1) my new vaio's here and its really a LOT lighter than my old one
2) car's been fixed after the break in & is good as new
3) accounting midterm will be done with tonight
4) I'm meeting and working with new people
5) I'd be back in sg in 51 days!
:) Quite happy. Now I just need to get more work done AND shop less.

When we look back it is always to our first love. The innocence of first love makes it exquisite. The world is new, everything is new, the experience of first love is like no other.
This does not mean, however, that it is always sweet. We place more trust in our first love than we should, regardless of rationality or logic. He's often unjustifiably placed on a pedestal- and his words count for too much. With time though, all becomes clearer.
Heartache, though, is a rite of passage we must go through in order to fully understand the vicissitudes of love..

Boooooooooo. School has only started for a week and things have been crazy. I've basically been kept busy from 9am-10pm for the past few days and its dead tiring. :(
I feel like just lounging around for the entire weekend but won't have the luxury of doing so..
2 pieces of good news though. I passed my math 241 placement- no more calc!! :) and finally got into dual. :)
Feeling slightly more positive. :D

Happy New Year!
Frohes Neu Jahr! :) Spent New Year's eve (Silvester) in Cologne with a bunch of Singaporeans including lovely xizhen who brought us around Cologne and Aachen. We counted down along the Rhein amidst self-fired fireworks. There were so many of them that it seemed as though it was an organized fireworks display. :) The enthusiam about Silvester is kinda contagious, but the debris that was left the next day is slightly disturbing. Broken beer bottles strewn on the streets, remnants of fireworks which have been set off.. We're now in snowy Berlin. Trekking through the city with the snow coming down strong is a rather interesting experience. It does snow in philly- but never as strong as this. Berlin still feels oh-so-familiar, despite my almost 5 months abscence. I guess I can now say that it is my favourtie German city of all. Nuremberg, Heidelberg, Bonn and Munich might be pretty, but none of them are as interesting and diverse as Berlin is. :D
I've 2 new year resolutions, which I vow to keep this time.
1) to forget him
2) to study hard and find an internship
:( hard work is required, I'd say.
